In this episode, I speak with Khaled Mansour. Khaled shares the twists and turns of a fascinating life, during which he grabbed chances to change careers multiple times. He worked as an engineer, then as a translator and journalist, then for the United Nations in the US, Sudan and Afghanistan, then for a small human rights organisation in Egypt, before deciding to become a teacher and writer, just publishing 2 books. There are amazing lessons to be drawn about how to grasp opportunities to reinvent yourself, how to effect change in big organisations, the importance of balancing analysis with empathy and the role parenthood can have in encouraging a life of  responsible citizenship.

Recorded on 18 January 2022.
